Privacy Policies and Practices as of October 15, 2020

At Benson, Young & Downs (BY&D), we are keenly aware of our responsibility to keep your personal information safe and confidential. We also recognize the need to be wholly transparent regarding the source and types of information that we gather and save.

What We Collect and How It Comes to Us

When necessary, we may collect non-public personal information about you. Some of the material we maintain actually comes from you. This kind of information includes details on applications and other forms as well as specifics related to your transactions with us, our affiliates, and other related individuals or entities. It also encompasses items you and others provide on past or current insurance claims.

In addition, when it is relevant, we preserve records and other material from medical professionals. The same is true for information about you from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles and the Massachusetts Merit Rating Board.

The Right to Review and Amend Your Personal Information

You have the right to access all personal information that we maintain about you and to know the identity of any parties to whom we have disclosed your information within two years of your request. You may view this material and copy it in person, or request that a copy of it be sent to you by mail (for which we may charge you a reasonable fee to cover our costs). And if you feel that any of the information may be inaccurate, you have the right to request appropriate corrections, amendments or deletions.

Our Confidentiality and Security Practices

To safeguard your nonpublic personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations. In addition, we grant access only to those employees who need your personal information to provide products or services to you. Unless required by law, we do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about any of our current or former clients to anyone.

Should BY&D experience a sale or transfer of its interests, you can expect that your information will be part of the new agreement, but under the same privacy guidelines outlined here. Finally, if a breach or other controversy stemming from or related to our privacy policy occurs, it will be settled by arbitration in accordance with the rules or the American Arbitration Association.
